Janne Kerovuo, Ph.D.

Vice President Research & Discovery

When I first learned about the “Central Dogma” of molecular biology at school my career path was set; I wanted to be a scientist. I ended up choosing an industrial R&D career over an academic one because I wanted to use science and biology to solve big problems. My path to NewLeaf started at a biotech company in Finland, Japan Marine Science and Technology Center in Yokosuka then several biotech companies such as Diversa, Synthetic Genomics and an agricultural biotech start-up company, Agradis in sunny San Diego, acquired by Monsanto landing me in St. Louis. I spend my free time with my magnificent wife Zoe and goof around with our kid Jack (my best friend). I practice yoga, especially hot kind, maybe because I was born close to the Arctic Circle. One of these days I’ll pull my skates out from mothballs and start playing hockey again…
